This guide will show you how to Add Delivery Charges in the eStore module.
eStore Delivery Charges are calculated using the Delivery Method, Delivery Type of Product and the Delivery Postcode Zones.
This article covers:
- Delivery bands (How product is being delivered)
- Delivery zones (Where the product is being delivered to)
- Delivery Charges setup
Delivery Band (How product is being delivered)
eStore recognises that 2 or more items being purchased on one Order may have different delivery Types (i.e. a Washing Machine is delivered by a Standard, whilst a Pack of Washers is sent by Next Day)
To compensate for this; two charges per Type are required. The delivery calculation will then look for the highest 1st column Order item (see example table below) to start generating a delivery cost, it will then take the 2nd column value for all other items on the Order as additional charges to the first.
This ensures you do not lose out on any delivery charges, as the site will calculate the most expensive outcome available for each Order.
In the example of the Washing Machine and Pack of Washers, the delivery charge uses the table below to calculate.
Examples
1 Washing Machine incurs a Delivery Charge of £20.00
2 Washing Machines
Delivery Charge of £20.00 + £5.00 = £25.00
4 Washing Machines
Delivery charge of 20+5+5+5 = £35.00
1 Washing Machine and 1 Pack of Washers
Delivery Charge of 20+1.50 = £21.50
2 washing Machines and 3 Packs of Washers Delivery Charge of 20+5+1.50+1.50+1.50 = £29.50
2 Packs of Washer
Delivery Charge of 3+1.50 = £4.50
The examples above shows that each calculation takes the most expensive 1st Charge, with every additional being the 2nd charge.
Delivery Zones (Where the product is being delivered to)
As well as the Band, eStore needs to consider the destination (or Zone) where the products are being delivered, as the cost of couriering a product 10 miles away doesn’t cost the same as couriering the same product 500 miles away.
For this you need to split your delivery areas in defined Zones. This can either be by regions (N, E, S, W etc.), or a simple Mileage Radius from your showroom (10, 20, 50 miles). You may even want to increase delivery charges for inconvenience drops such as city centres.
Delivery Zone: Areas of the country which you attribute postcodes to
Delivery Band: Type of Product (Small, Medium, Large)
Delivery Type: Method of Delivery (Standard, Next Day Delivery etc)
Delivery Charges Set-up
- Click eStore in your EQ software on the navigation at the top.
- Highlight your website and click on Edit Settings (2nd button from top) and click on the Delivery tab then select the Bands tab of the lower section.
-
Enter the Delivery Band type of product using the Add button.
- Now select the Types tab and enter in the Method of Delivery (Standard, Next Day Delivery etc.
- Now select the Zones tab and enter in your delivery areas.
The example below shows a mileage radius from the showroom. - Select the Charges tab.
As you add a new Band & Zone, eStore automatically compiles this table for you to enter your delivery cost values. The above example has values entered, but initially these will all be set to zero.
First: This is the initial Main Charge explained in the examples previously.
Second+: This is the Additional Charge, also explained in the examples previously.
Max: This is the max amount you charge for delivering items of that Band to that Zone.
- Select the Countries tab.
On this screen you will need to scroll down the countries list ensuring that only the countries you intend to sell to are selected by ticking Allow, also ensure your default country is set.
Zone: From the dropdown select a default Zone, this is a fail-safe in the likely hood that a product has no delivery charge set against it.
Max: This is your maximum delivery charge; if you don’t want to have a Max value then you must at least enter an exaggerated value (i.e. 999999.99)
FOC Val: This is the Order value that you will allow FOC Delivery; if you don’t want to offer FOC Delivery then you must at least enter an exaggerated value (i.e. 999999.99)
- Select the Postcodes tab.
This is the final screen for setting up your Delivery Charges. Here will apply the different rules and charges set-up in the other tabs to specific postcodes – it is from here that the delivery charge draws the link between the product and postcode that the online customer enters for delivery.
Allow: You can be selective about which postcode areas your delivery to. (i.e. you may not delivery to N.Ireland, so the example above shows the postcode BT has been un-ticked)
Country: This is auto populated for you.
Zone: This is where you apply the Post Code to the Zone’s previously created. Using the drop-down boxes select a zone for each area.
- Select Export Settings then Yes to Save & Export Settings, then Yes again to send file to website.
- Select Update to save and close the Edit Settings screen.
